What can Taroom Shire Landcare do for
Landholders?
- Provide information in everyday language.
We network with other groups, scientists
- Staff give one-on-one help, property visits can
be arranged if needed
- Organise one-on-one and group graining for almost
any topic. Past training has included: property mapping
software, how to use a GPS unit, understanding vegetation
management, legumes, soil health etc.
- Provide an opportunity for linking in with other
farmers, agribusinesses, consultants, researchers to access relevant
and useful information
- identify opportunities and support members apply
for incentive programs. This includes help filling out forms.
- Educate the community on the good job local
farmers and graziers are doing to management and improve our natural
resources
- Respond to natural resource management issues on
behalf of the farming community.
Financial incentives for On-Farm Work
To support landholders to make voluntary changes on
property, Landcare, with support of the Dawson Catchment Coordinating
Association and other organisations, is able to offer source funding to
improve and manage natural resources. Some examples of previous
funding include fencing of creek banks, relocating watering points for
stock, satellite mps for property management planning and water
