Incentive for Natural Resource Management:

These incentives are available through the Fitzroy Basin Association, to help improve natural resources and build better farm productivity by improving water quality, salinity, weeds and pests.  Issues vary from region to region, which is why catchment groups have been created.  These catchment groups help to identify needs, and allows experience and knowledge to be shared and gives support through funding and neighbours.  The Upper Dawson Field Officer supporting the implementation of the neighbourhood catchment program.

Priority catchments have been determined by the community (DCCA) and for 2006 include the following areas:

  • Palmtree

  • Bungaban

  • Woleebee &

  • Hutton

Fundable activities:

 

For Priority & other Catchments

    Fencing:      

        - Riparian / wetland

        - Biodiversity/vegetation

        - EPA Nature Refuge

    Water Systems:

        - Associated with riparian / wetlands,

        - recharge/saline areas and

        - biodiversity/vegetation

    Biodiversity Stewardship payments

    Mapping

 

For Priority Catchments

    Controlled Traffic / Zero Till Farming - towable machinery

    Fencing - to landtype

    Water Systems - Associated with fencing to land type and managing grazing for increased ground cover.

    Strategic Weed control - Weeds of national Significance (WONS)
